Chembur continues to surprise me with really great hidden spots. Oasis is one such spot. Had been here yesterday, with a big gang of 12 persons. We ordered a couple of rounds of starters like Chicken Tikka kababs and Chicken bukhara kababs. Ordinarily, both the kababs are fairly standard fare, and i wasn't expecting much from them. Decided to try out this place on a hunch, coz we had already been to Leo's, Mondy's and (our personal favourite) Universal several times. Thought that this would be in the same line of Cafe / Bar types as the three mentioned above. But when we landed there, it seemed more like a proper restaurant rather than a cafe / bar. That should have been a sign for us, but we ignored it and walked into the rather decent looking place. We ordered a couple of starters - denmark sausages and paprika chicken. Visited this place once again after a long time, and had a great time once again. For a change i was in time (before 9.00 pm) to try their famous 'Chicken Khada Masala'. I love their chicken chilly fry, which i usually have, but the khada masala is really delicious. This was a place on our list of restaurants to visit for a really long time, coz we were totally thrilled by the thought of trying some fiery red rassa and other kolhapuri dishes. I love spicy food, and was specially looking to a battle between my taste buds and the fiery kolhapuri rassa. So, we order their sunday speciality - gavran chicken thali - and another specialty dish chicken dhangari thali. each costs about 210 - 250 Rs, so its not cheap.

This place is truly amazing. I'v been to this cozy little bistro type restaurant several times over the years, and not a single time have i been disappointed. The food has always been excellent, the ambience perfect for a quiet, romantic dinner and the service is prompt. If you're not sure what you want to order, just ask the stewards, they'll usually do a good job of recommending you the right stuff. -
