With one foot out the door on my way to leave for NZ to get my MBA done, it is only evident that work collegues, friends and family form the very basis of every meal. Its almost like planning for a wedding: the similarities being you have to eat and drink like every meal is your last one, lest someone thinks you are haughty, avoid looking @ your watch every five minutes planning on your next upcoming engagement, try to endure the same stupid questions over and over again and (in secret) dread if the people you go out with give you something you can live with (like a PR: Ultraviolet) or something... read more
My first experience with a 'propah'Steak was @ Koshy's in Bangalore. I thought it was heaven. Till I went to 'The Only Place'..and I thought that was heaven. And Then I went to Millers 46. That was the readjusted Heaven. And Then I went to Yoko Sizzlers.. and that was Steak House Hell for sure.. and here I am @ Steak House by 8. If you thought this place is a Steak House "Specifically".. then you can 'fuggedaboutit'.I dont know whether to rate the place by what they have on the Menu Vs the fact that the Menu itself is virtually non-existant.I wanted to 'get on it' and vote these guys out ASAP :... read more
The beauty about quitting a job is that weekdays need not be spent going to bed early or staying kosher.Plus weekdays is a great way to explore bars as the stag issue does not cause a riot, the bartender seems more humane, and you dont have to jostle with crowds vying for a seat.Even so ,I called to confirm.Easy-to-remember number 600,000 :).And yes, they did not have an issue with stags (on a weekday),although I was given the list of the "ten commandments",footwear included.

Options (and elimination by extension) is the essence of work/life balance these days. Food got me thinking: do I stick to the "Hello" I had such good food in last time or do we try a) Ashvitas new place off Mowbrays Road? b) Tuscanas new touch by Turnbulls? or "Fusion 9"without the arduous journey on Sterling?. With the heat on the verge of running out in Madras and the monsoon not set in "Alfresco" would be a terrible choice for lack of conditioned air.Rules out option A. Burrper "Stanoid" and his exploits with Tuscana and their organization made for a terrible read over a few months ago (which... read more
It was a promise long forgotten ,and so, on a friday evening : I decided to hit Chipstead.Since Madras is notorious on the Stags and 'covered footwear' issue : I called beforehand to ENSURE I will not get booted @ the door.It took some time for the receptionist to get it right (I dont think anyone has called to check in on the bar: they just waltz in), but I wanted to be doubly sure. Single ,not ready to mingle and possibly dont look the age (I am reminded everytime I buy a ticket @ Satyam that certain movies are for above 18 audiences only. I am not sure if I should take that as a compliment!),... read more
