Cringing, craving, bingeing, braving... you always have an opinion on what's hot and what's not in your city and we just love to hear it. Besides, there's no better place to satiate that itch to bitch!
We went to Phobidden Fruit for dinner on a Sunday night. It might be a great place for non vegetarians, but for vegetarians, the options are pretty limited.
Ambience: Cozy. The restaurant has a ground and an upper level. The stairs leading to the upper level are somewhat narrow but I guess that's no big deal. The decor was simple and unassuming.
Food: We ordered the Mekong Momos, Jasmine hot tea and the Green Papaya Salad to start things off. They also had some complimentary pickled radishes and carrots which were pretty good.
The Green Papaya salad was fresh and tasted... read more
We went for dinner to Chez Mariannick on a Saturday night. It's French fare with good amount of vegetarian options.
Food: The salad and bread are unlimited and so are the drinks (coke, sprite, even diet coke!). The salad was FRESH. Good, crispy lettuce, cherry tomatoes, baby corn and an ingenious inclusion of sprouts. The vanilla mustard dressing went well with it. The bread had an exquisite crust and a porous, spongy interior. They bake their breads and pizzas on a wood-fired oven. The place has a good amount of vegetarian options. However, vegan folks and those who do not consume eggs... read more
We went to Millers 46 with a friend to grab lunch a couple of days ago.
Decor/Theme: The owners have done a good job of giving this the wild west theme. Cowboys and old fashioned barns are what crossed our minds as we took the stairs to enter the place. When we entered the place, they had some country music playing. They even had a Longhorn's skull adorning the center of the restaurant. Vintage Texas! 4 out of 5!
Food: We had the following Lasagna (Modeno style) - there was cheese on top but inside, it was just pasta sauce, corn and spinach. The taste was good but it didn'... read more
I'm an avid lover of Italian food. I've been wanting to check out Toscano. So when an opportunity presented itself to meet a few friends for a dinner at Toscano (UB City), I couldn't pass ;)
Food: I had the Minestrone soup and pizza di patate. I felt that the minestrone was too watery and a touch under seasoned. I thought minestrone was supposed to have beans (kidney beans etc.) along with vegetables like zucchini, yellow squash etc. but I didn't find any. The vegetables, however, were quite fresh.
The cheese used in the pizza seemed authentic. however, I also expect a terrific... read more
We went to this place for a dessert after hearing about it from a few friends.
Food: AWESOME! None of their ice creams taste or reek or artificial essences and flavoring agents. Their ice creams are truly natural. We had the gulkand ice cream. We could actually see (dried rose petals) and taste real gulkand. It tasted great with the nuts present in the ice cream. We also had jackfruit ice cream and it was like eating a piece of fresh, fleshy jackfruit. They even have sugar free ice creams (I guess that means no added sugar).
Service: Terrific! We asked them for sampling a few... read more
