  • Good, But I Want More Nov 17, 2011

Punjab Grill Lower Parel  |  95 reviews

For the first time in my life, a hostess at a restaurant refused to take a reservation as we wanted to visit at 8.30pm and not 9pm or 7pm. This is just rude or maybe she sounded rude, there are better ways for them to explain.
Anyway, I'd visited before the above incident and I must say that I enjoyed the Pan Shot immensely. We had a meal of 4 different entrees and we enjoyed them all, especially the Cheese Kurkuri. I'm not a fan of paneer, but I must say that the tikkas were quite flavoursome.
If only they had more on the menu to choose from.

Positives: Location, Courteousness of Staff & Indian items on the menu
Negatives: Whatever else you can think of

I'd been wanting to visit this place ever since I'd moved to Bombay, what a letdown! Firstly, the seating is SO BAD, the sofas are huge and the tables in between are so bulky that there's no space to keep your legs, so we had to sit with our legs stretched out and anyone not looking where they were going may have tripped over our feet.
The mushrooms were tasteless, I can make better stuffed mushrooms! Why do most Indian restaurants use ONLY Button mushrooms? There are

  • Nice But Not The Best Oct 30, 2011

    Komala's Restaurant Lower Parel  |  21 reviews

I would say that I'm a frequent customer of Komala's mainly because it's a place for quick hot south Indian food. There are no surpises as far as the idlis, sambar, dosas, vadas, pongal, uthapam and other rice items go, but the biggest surprise is the hugely disappointing coffee. This is not the filter coffee I would expect at a south Indian restaurant. I would prefer the south Indian food at Matunga's Ramashreya or Mani's to Komalas, any day or time of the week. That being said, I like the casual pace of Komalas where you're not expected to dine and dash and it's CLEAN.

I can't speak about the authenticity in taste of the cuisine, but I can say that we tried almost everything vegetarian on the menu as we were a group of 7 and I must say that everything was tasty, service was excellent and we had a fantastic time.

South Of Vindhyas Vile Parle East  |  2 reviews

Having lived in the south for a few years, I'd started missing the cuisine I'd taken for granted there. South of The vindhyas is a beautiful restaurant with wooden columns, terracotta tiles on the ceiling and south Indian sarees draping the walls. They have an A la carte menu and a sit-down buffet to choose from, we chose the A la carte as the sit-down buffet seemed to be more of a Karnataka Style thali and hence food which would be simpler (to digest). The service was very good, we were treated to a ritual of washing our hands in a silver basin and our order was taken promptly. I only wished our... read more
