Golden Wok is simply delicious. The corn and water chestnut starter is excellent, although it could use some more water chestnut. Haka noodles are fantastic, spicy and not as greasy as the usual fare.
Highly recommended for Chinese food fans!! -

This maritime-themed bar has a great old friendly wait staff that makes sure your quiet drink is pleasurable. It is right downstairs from Wasabi and a perfect place to get started while waiting for your table of sushi upstairs. They have a great cocktail menu (it is the Taj!!) and nice comfortable chairs to sink into while you people watch out the windows. Small munchies are served with the drinks to whet your appetite. Think of this bar as a place that Sherlock Holmes would visit for a drink and a puff of his cob pipe. -

The Taj Wellington Mews has tucked into a corner of their lobby this pleasant little deli/cafe. It also doubles up as a gourmet grocery store for higher end foodstuffs, such as chocolates, wafers, granolas, and teas. Enjoy a latte, baked goods, or a sandwich here if you're in the area and need a quiet lunch break away from the Colaba madness.
Decor is modern/minimalist and could use a bit more character, but it still is a great quiet getaway. Beware: on the pricey side. -

What can I say? Chef Morimoto (of Iron Chef fame) owned sushi joint at the Taj Mahal Palace is true to the core. No chicken sushi, or other weird Indian-ized concoctions. Pure fresh sashimi also available and the rolls are to die for. The only drawback? Price, price, price. Although I do not get much of an opportunity to head to town, even a once in a month trip breaks my purse. -

The food here is just above average and the service is a bit amateurish. Waiters are kind, but probably not experienced like you might expect a wait staff to be. The food is your traditional mughlai/north-western frontier fare, meaning very rich and heavy! The mushroom tikka was a great starter I must say - the dal makhani was as expected and the dum aaloo was just way too oily/rich/heavy for my taste.
The ambiance is what is special here - on the rooftop of the seedy Gulf Hotel, tables are set under canopies of clay - some of the larger tables have entire benches made out of the white... read more -
