I wasn't expecting this place to make such good food, or to have such a pleasant experience in home delivery. The food is quite good - the tandoori chicken, the pepper prawns. The rotis are a bit rubbery. They don't have the rolls and shawarmas that they've claimed to have. The time for food delivery has always been quicker than expected. The staff courtesy on the phone while taking orders has always been very very good. When I called them once, the person on the line said, "thank you for calling, sir." I've never been inside the restaurant, but I'm perfectly happy order my food on the... read more
After reading some of the glowing reviews of 12th Main, we decided to give it a shot.
The ambiance was exceptionally good - the poolside and the interiors, both were excellent, though the poolside chairs could have been more more comfortable (read, soft seats instead of hard ones). The soft lighting coupled with the foliage, canopies and brown earthy tones made for a very soft, luscious experience.
The service too wasn't bad. Most of the staff were courteous, smiling and friendly, with the exception of the floor manager/ captain who seemed to be rather aloof.
Departing from our last year of sticking to the tried and tested, we tried the new kid on the [Koramangala] block - El Tablao.
Our experience with the phone reservation was the beginning of a god experience. The owner himself answered the call and he was polite, friendly, cultured, knowledgeable, caring and very helpful. We walked in at around 9:00 PM, but the place was rather empty.
The ambiance and decor was quite good - done in warm tones of orange and brown. The place was clean, neat and seemed a cut above the rest of the "Mexican" places we've been to around India.
Overall, I'd say that the place was above average to good, though definitely not very good.
The service was pretty good except for the beverage/ alcohol service. We went there on a Sunday to do a brunch, and the waiters consistently forgot or delayed our alcohol orders. We had to ask them a minimum of 4-5 times to get each order. The alcohol quality was average to below average, except for the OJ-Vodka-Salt-chilli shots, which were outstanding.
The food service was very good, and out waiter outdid himself in the speed or service, courtesy and serving.
Why I hadn't been to this place so far, beats me. I pass it very often, but it always seems to be "in my blind spot". Probably because it's façade is so "low-key" and understated.
We decided to try this place after, of all the things, reading about it on Burrp. We nearly decided not to go there after we encountered some pretty bad traffic along the way. I'm glad we did make it though, because the place was a revelation.
The interiors have a few funny signs - someone there has a sense of humour; probably the owner, a Frenchman named Valentino. The ambiance isn't bad. It isn't outst... read more
