Cringing, craving, bingeing, braving... you always have an opinion on what's hot and what's not in your city and we just love to hear it. Besides, there's no better place to satiate that itch to bitch!
After a long time (12 years), my children took us on our wedding anniversary to this place for lunch. Then the main dining hall used to be in the main building itself and if I remember Sunehri did not exist. This was supposed to be a nostalgia trip as both of us used to be very fond of the vegetarian meals at Woodlands in the good old days. The hall was full and we had to wait for almost 20 minutes for a place. Once seated it took another 20 minutes to get the attention of waiters. Only 3 plantain leaves came for 4 of us - one was torn. It took another 10 minutes to get the leaves. Then... read more
After seeing the NDTV show wanted to go there very much. Could finally manage to drop in yesterday for lunch. The entrance is dirty and dingy. The ambience would have been good when started but now appears worn down and shoddy. As the menu indicates this is all about navayte food. We ordered the platter besides Arabic Biriyani, hummus, babagnush, fattoush, umeAli and the mahalabiya The platter was excellent - correct spices, nice marination, you name it. Pitta and hummus were dissappointing. Baba gnoush was passable. I did not like the arabic biriyani. The UmmAli was excellent.... read more
I am back in Bangalore after 15 years and find that finding a good eating place has become harder even though eateries have proliferated. So when a friend suggested lunch at Richies I went with trepidation. We ordered mixed starters, Roghn Josh, Chicken Patiala with parathas and Mutton Biriyani. The ambiance is fine and one can go with respectable company. However the decibel level of the customers is quite high. Maybe because of this the waiters don't listen to polite beckoning. The service is rag tag and totally unsatisfactory. The food however is quite good. Particularly the... read more
I am from Bengaluru and have been told by my relatives in Chennai that there is nothing to beat Sarvana Bhavan. So faithfully tried to see for myself the wonderful place when I came to Chennai. Boy what a let down! The food is no doubt good. So is the food in umpteen places in Bengaluru. The portions are miniscule and prices exhorbitant. Imagine paying Rs. 18 for a single Vada half the size of a normal one, Rs. 19 for a small helping of coffee etc. Compared to our own Mavalli Tiffin Rooms, Vidyarthy Bhavan, Central Tiffin Rooms, Janardhan hotel and others this is a rip off!... read more
I had read quite a few reviews about Kutty's. With trepidation started to try it as I had a bad experience earlier about effusive reviews.
Since I stay in Dadar, the visit had to be worth the while. Fortunately this time the reviews were on the dot. For a person from town it is slightly difficult to find the place but the direction seeking is worth it. The place is small and could do with more space.
We were four and decided to go by the bell captain's recommendations and ordered for family dosa and the rice platter along with butter milk.
The food was real authentic and reminded... read more
