High Spirits is a place that thinks that they're doing us a favour by simply existing. What they don't realise is that they're in the service industry and we are doing them a favour by spending our money there rather than anywhere else.
Staffed by people who appear to have no ability to think (I will single out a lady called Divya who claims to be their manager for a special mention for her poor attitude), they tell you one thing on the phone and another when you actually turn up and then make no effort to solve the problem at all. Decent collection of sarees, however I was looking for something around 5k and the salesman kept showing me sarees that were much more expensive. When I asked him to drape one, he was extremely rude and offensive and told me to look in another shop across the road. Complete contrast to the shop next door where they were very polite and patient. -

Ours was a lunch-time visit on a Saturday. The restaurant is located at Raheja Towers in BKC and when you walk in, your attention cannot help but be caught by the array of incredible looking desserts and macaroons on display (more on that later). The dining part of the restaurant is located on the first floor, and I have to give full marks for design - lots of natural light, well spaced out tables, great decor and mild blue lighting give it a sense of openness. The crockery is also quite interesting with plates that have scalloped edges, rather than regular round ones.

It's hard to find a fine dining Indian restaurant in Mumbai, especially one that isn't in a five star hotel. I was hoping Veda would satisfy that gap, but I'm sorry to say that it was rather disappointing.
The interiors of the restaurant are rather gloomy - Gothic chandeliers, dim lighting and dark furniture with the wait staff dressed in black - I personally found it a bit creepy, though I overheard another customer telling the manager that she thought it was a 'beautiful place', so I suppose it's a matter of personal choice.

I've been a Tea Centre regular for a while now, but my last visit there was not a pleasant one.
The place was pretty empty but the waiters were in such a rush to get me out - I picked up the last piece of my mushroom toast off my plate and before I could put it in my mouth, my plate was whisked away - I hate being hurried while eating so that made me really cross!
When I asked if I could plug in my phone charger, I was told it was 'not allowed to use their electricity'. Really? I've never heard anything more silly.
