  • My favourite dive May 20, 2009

Eden Park Shivajinagar  |  10 reviews

    The Good:
    - Open air dining with widely spaced tables
    - Paisa vasool food and drink
    - Gorge-worthy starters

    The Bad:
    - Service quality resembles that of Indian Airlines
    - Drinks limited to the bottom end

    Go For It:
    - If you're a large group bent on gorging and getting tanked up. This is not a place for moderation

    Avoid:
    - If you want a candlelight dinner for two
    - If you're choosy about your drink

  • Limited choice, expensive, but good food May 20, 2009

The Urban Nawaab Marathahalli  |  6 reviews

    The Good:
    - Veg platter was good as was the main course
    - The stone grill is innovative
    - Decent ambience, still uncrowded

    The Bad:
    - VERY limited menu.
    - More expensive than the BJN restaurants
    - The biryani didn't match up to the rest of the meal

    Do Go:
    - You aren't a vegetarian, thereby allowing you more than one option per course
    - If 75 bucks for aam panna doesn't faze you
    - If you want to try something out of the ordinary

    Avoid:
    - If you like being spoilt for choice
    - If you dislike listening

  • A pleasant surprise May 17, 2009

Sree Nandhana Palace by Sree Nandhini Palace Domlur  |  2 reviews

Been there thrice - sampled both the south and north Indian restaurants

    The Good:
    - Meals in the south Indian restaurant are excellent VFM
    - Food all-in-all is, surprisingly good
    - Decor is upmarket - not the usual Nandhini-style
    - Non-vegetarians would be spoilt for choice

    The Bad:
    - Starters are really oily
    - Always overcrowded - weekdays thanks to the tech parks opposite, weekends; thanks to the prices
    - Veg options really limited. The ratio is 2:1 or 3:1 in favour of N.V

    Do Go:
If you want good Andhra or Chettinad

    Take 5 Indiranagar  |  48 reviews

    The Good:
No teenagers! Late twenty and thirty somethings abound
    The Belgian beer menu
    Good finger food
    Attentive service

    The Bad:
Usually somewhere between crowded and overcrowded
Lighting too low. Its a bar, not a place for a candlelight dinner
Can be a little less expensive
Some days, the music is too disjoint. What are love songs doing in the midst of a session of classic rock?

    Do Try:
    The aforementioned Belgian beers

    Avoid:
Going there if you expect dance/trance music, place to shake a leg or if you are anywhere

  • Mildly overrated May 10, 2009

Laa Jawaab Indiranagar  |  26 reviews

    The Good:
    - Main courses
    - Rotis and naans are well made
    - Attentive service

    The Bad:
    - Tables too closely spaced. You can hear everyone around, and your conversation can likewise be heard by all
    - Furniture looks cheap
    - Uneven use of spices - some mildly flavored, some dishes killed by the level of spice used
    - More expensive than it warrants to be

    What To Eat:
The pindi chana had pieces of paneer in it, and was not the dark brown one would expect it to be, but the dish worked well enough for a repeat order the
