Made a pit stop on my way home one evening. I was stranded at a traffic signal, hungry as hell. Suddenly, as if by magic, a lilting, wafting fragrance of dum biriyani reached me, and I immediately spotted Hyderabad House right opposite the signal. Suddenly craving a good biriyani, I walked into the restaurant. Ambiance-wise, I didn't find it too appealing, nor was the place air-conditioned, but boy oh boy! I saw a few tables already occupied, and patrons gorging on some of the most delicious-looking and smelling curries and biriyanis!! Yumm. I took my decisions quickly. I was going to order a take-... read more
Counter guys at Kayani's and Burger King are well-known for their caustic tongues. But these guys take the cake (literally!). The food court restaurants at the NPB, Hinjewadi (read back-road) is a humungous building, boasting of a food court, juice center and bake zone. These sections are all excellent and the prices are pretty reasonable. However, step into the bakery section of the store, and you'll forget your great experience in a real hurry - for the counters are run by goons (or so they seem). Their demeanor is not pleasant in the least, they are super-inattentive, don't listen to the item... read more
On a lazy Sunday afternoon, we decided to check out this place. A non-vegetarian by choice, I would never suggest a veg restaurant to anyone, if I am to accompany them. However, on this occasion, my friend's wife is a pure veggie, so I had to suggest this place, since it looked good from the outside (I know it sounds crazy but that's how we walked into this place, lol)
The restaurant seating has air-conditioned as well- as outdoor gazebos (a-la Mezza 9) The best part about the outdoor seating is that every few seconds, a fine jet of water is sprayed from the roof to cool the surroundings.... read more
Its the same old fare that we're used to. Its a potpourri recipe of seafood restaurant conventions that are in use everywhere else. The other day we visited this place since they claimed to have a crab festival. Although crowded, they managed to find a table for our group of 8. Okay, now about the food: They got the sol kadhi wrong..even a nondescript and quaint place like Saayba at Bandra serves much better stuff.. The crab salad was okay..the crab soup was a lot like chicken clear soup..even the pieces were sparse!! The ONLY thing that was a bit different from the other seafood experi... read more
After a hectic day of grocery shopping, we stepped into Shiv Sagar, for some quick lunch, before heading home for some rest. Having literally grown up to Shiv Sagar food back in Mumbai, we didn't expect this one to be half as good as the one at Juhu (or anywhere in Mumbai for that matter). But boy was I surprised!!!
The whiff of hot, buttery pav bhaji filled the air as we stepped inside, and just a couple of minutes waiting time, we were ushered to our seats by an enthusiastic waiter. I could think of nothing else to order other than pav bhaji, so I did.
