Cringing, craving, bingeing, braving... you always have an opinion on what's hot and what's not in your city and we just love to hear it. Besides, there's no better place to satiate that itch to bitch!
Quite contradictory to my review of the china gate branch inside croma, i have given this place which is the original china gate 5 stars:
i always make it a point to go to this restaurant when im in bombay. great food, tasty, well presented and fresh!! there is literally an explosion of flavors in your mouth as soon as you consume! some of my favorite items on the menu are spicy crab meat soup, the chicken manchow soup, the bean curd and shanghai-paneer (vegetarian appetizers), the chilly garlic prawns, sesame chicken (appetizers), the pot rice, roast pork chilly, schezwan fish......do... read more
Please bear in mind, this review is for the China Gate inside the mall which also has Croma, the one opposite KFC...and not for the one on Waterfield Road (which by the way has superb food and service)
This china gate has a buffet system and i went to this place on a Wednesday night with a friend, the food spread and the ambience and decor of the place looked very appealing for starters. Then the problems started, we were seated at a table really close to a fountain type of thing in the centre of the restaurant and soon the water had started overflowing all over the floor under... read more
Went to this place for an early evening cocktail and food with my friends on a Saturday. The parking scene and the overall area (Linking rd.) where Mumbai Times Cafe' is located irks me for starters....literally a sea of shoppers, with wife and kids tagging along, walking all over the freakin' roads looking at trinkets and roadside clothes......drives me mad!!!
Anyways, once we got there: Ambience was good, drinks and food were strictly okay (we had margharitas, one kebab and one chinese platter), the music and clientele was questionable....commercial songs: lemon tree, tub thumpin',... read more
I accidentally ended up at this place on a Sunday night after Cafe' Basilico had too long a waiting time. Was pleasantly surprised by Thai Ban's delicious food (non-authentic but then neither are most Thai, Chinese places in Bombay). The crispy beef tenderloin, shrimp pad thai and the chicken dishes that we called for were all very well marinated and really tasty.
Would like to make a mention of our waiter Sushant, who gave us an OUTSTANDING service while we were here.....prompt and proactive. We spent 1000 for 2 people for ice teas, 2 appetizers, a curry and a noodle plate.
finally a place in bombay that holds its own when being compared to the international party scene and clubs abroad. great house/club music for starters, well dressed people, great decor and ambience, staff was quick and friendly...china house will put the poisons and the prives to shame!
now for the flipside:
i was annoyed to find out that the bar doesnt accept cash or credit card. instead, now u gotta go pay in cash or card at a counter near the main door and get a gift card which the bartender will then swipe. i found this to be completely unnecessary, and a total money-m... read more
